About

Stefanie Welk, born in 1972 in Heidelberg, is a sculptor with a studio in Walldorf near Heidelberg. Represented by Galerie Petra Kern, Heidelberg.

Artist and mediator between THE worlds

Embodiment is a central theme for me. I explore how spiritual energy comes into the world – how it takes on form and becomes matter.

I like to look behind the form. Again and again my concern is transformation, movement – above all inner movement. My work is a passage, an inner impulse – made visible through transparent, open structures.

My works are not closed – I work with states, transitions, vibrations. My work touches the invisible. It has a counterpart in quantum physics, in models of consciousness, in energetic systems. I do not understand the world as an object, but as a living field.

I see myself as a mediator between different worlds. My art is a medium – it mediates between the spiritual and the physical, between the invisible and the visible, between energy and form.

Art for your place

A work that belongs exactly to its place – that is my particular passion.

When I see a place or know its conditions, I begin to imagine: What should the work convey? Whom should it reach? Where does it find its place, and how does it change the space around it? From these questions I develop a work tailored to the place, its conditions and your concern. I have refined this way of working over decades – from large-scale sculptures for cities, companies and TU Chemnitz to sculptures for private gardens.

A particular focus of my work is art for companies. I have already worked with numerous companies and developed works for foyers, entrance areas, outdoor grounds and rooftops – among others for the Brand Group, Nedschroef, Bruker BioSpin, AOK Systems and WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management. Works that make a company's values, history and identity visible.

You have a place – a garden, a company building, a practice, a square – and would like a work of art to convey something: an idea, a thought, an attitude that reaches people? Write to me or give me a call. Let's sit down together. I will send you sketches and designs, and step by step your project will take shape together.
